Series: Back To School
Title: Back To School 1
Scripture: John 13
Summary:
On the night before His death, Jesus did something shocking: He took the place of a servant and washed His disciples’ feet. This act was not only about humility but about redefining greatness in God’s kingdom. The disciples expected honor and position, but Jesus showed them that true love means serving others in the lowest places. By this act, He revealed that holiness is not abstract — it’s lived out in love that stoops low.
Afterward, Jesus gave His disciples a new command: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” The mark of the church is not perfection, power, or prestige, but love. As we begin a new school year, Jesus reminds us that the most important lesson is not just what we know, but how we love. Our words, our actions, and even our willingness to serve quietly all proclaim who we belong to.
