8.17.2025 Sermon Snapshot

Series: At The Movies

Title: It's Just A House

Scripture: Isaiah 43:16-21

Summary:

Pastor Jared takes us through a reflection using the Pixar film Up and the promise of Isaiah 43:19.

Carl, the grieving widower in Up, is so anchored to the past—represented by his house—that he nearly misses the new life and relationship forming beside him. Through a powerful visual of Carl watching his house float away, we are invited to ask: What are we holding onto that might be holding us back?

Isaiah 43 reminds us that God doesn’t just recycle the past—He’s doing something new. He’s not parting the Red Sea again—He’s making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Just as Carl eventually embraces a new mission with Russell, we too are called to let go of what was and embrace what God is doing now. Your past may be meaningful, but your mission is forward.
