Curriculum: Kindergarten readiness is our priority. We work to meet the goals set by the State of Washington to prepare students to thrive in kindergarten. We believe in hands-on, interactive learning. We know that children best learn through play. It is our job to provide scaffolding for their play that promotes brain development. Our curriculum is theme-based throughout the year, and primarily based on the alphabet.
Are you a Christian preschool? Yes! We believe that children should be exposed to God at a young age. We believe the Bible is full of values our children deserve to know.
What does COOPERATIVE PRESCHOOL mean? Building Blocks is not a traditional drop-off program. Parents are required to work in the classroom two days in a calendar month. It is VITAL to realize that these days are REQUIRED in order to attend the program, and not volunteer. Parents are given opportunities to sign up for work days that best fit their personal schedules.
Can someone else do my work days? We strongly encourage parents to do their work days. We believe that both you and your child benefit from that learning environment. Any substitutes (grandparents, etc.) must have attended the Preschool Orientation training before beginning to work in the classroom.
Can siblings attend? We offer a $10.00 discount for siblings enrolled in the program. However, only enrolled students can attend preschool. This means that you MAY NOT bring along siblings to your work days. Only nursing infants under 12 months who can be worn on secure front-pack may accompany you on your work days.
What are the ages? Preschool is for students who are two and a half up until Kindergarten. You MUST be fully potty trained to attend preschool AND in underwear. Pull-ups are not allowed in the preschool program.
Will there be fund-raising? The 2017-2018 School year will be the inaugural year! As such, fundraising will be its stages of infancy. It is the desire of the preschool leadership that parents will willingly take part in a single, as yet undermined, fundraiser. The Church of the Nazarene hopes to partner with the families and make fund-raising a positive experience.
